You're Doing Alright, Momma
Motherhood is crazy because you’re always doing so much better than you think you are. Like a million times better. Like everything is fine and you’re going to make it and your kids are actually ok but it feels like you’re semi-failing and the water is up to your chin. If I could go back to any stage of mom-hood from newborns to toddlers and beyond, I’d tell myself, “Relax. You’re doing great. Paper plates are fine. Fed is best even when it’s toast & cheese, nuggets, or boxed

I wrote a new book series
Book mail! I have a new series of books coming out called David’s Diary about an elementary school kid who has a ton of heart and maybe an IEP. David’s the type to forget his backpack at home but go to war for a friend. He’s the kind of kid who forgot the history diorama was due (or existed) but can name 45 fun facts about black holes. That has to count for something. He and his best bud Nate (who hates ichy tags, foods touching, and small talk) learn together about friend

Book Review: Parable Port
Parable Port, The Sower's Secret is book one in a series that reminds me so much of the zany, funny, exciting Adventures in Odyssey stories.

Autism & Jesus & Chicken Nuggets & My New Book Series for Children
Hi from Bunmi. I've been traveling with my family in East Asia! One of my teens started a very cool overseas program and we decided to turn in into a trip. Sourdough Starter Day #2
That's not pink mold! It's a marker line. Well. If you're trying to figure out why my sourdough starter looks like one of the shepherds that met baby Jesus, I'll tell you. The recipe I'm using says to cover my starter with a cloth and tie it with a string. The closest things I had were a clean tea towel and a new shoelace. I didn't want to cut my towel to size because I don't want to start chopping up my towels for such a precarious project. The recipe also said to mark whe

Sourdough Starter Selena
For one reason or another, I've decided to begin my sourdough journey. I love making challah, but have never tried making a bread using natural yeast. It seems as if everyone and their mom makes sourdough....Ballerina Farms makes it look so easy....why not me? I'm following a simple protocol I found online. The first program I found involved doing something called "discarding" which makes no sense to me. You just throw away half the starter every now and again. But why? I fou

Dear Lunch Monitor
Dear lunch monitor, I know I started the year strong with spaghetti and quesadillas, veggie slices and cheese cubes, but it’s December. There are special days, performances, and snowman cookies to buy then put on a plate like I made them. So, if you see ice cream cones in my son’s lunchbox as his snack, no you didn’t. You saw carrot sticks. That’s what you saw. You saw Swedish ginger cracker gnome hats, a traditional Swiss holiday treat made from buckwheat, molasses, and sno
